The government servant will take steps so that Unnecessary vices can be curbed in the society. Evil habits would be done away with. He doesn’t see his people suffering but his own children suffering if in case the unnecessary vices are not curbed.

Government official / People representative will come in contact with people. So they are his neighbors. He will have to do for them and their children, the way his children and he want to be treated. So

Governments are responsible too. This commandment can make governments accountable too.

 For the head of the state, how he want his children to be treated, if he is able to draft policies that the under-privileged children can be benefited.

 

If the head of the state is able to practice “ love thy neighbor”, the state will be in blissful state. Love does no harm to your neighbor

 

Dealing with a troubling neighboring country

Many a time, we see that when the head of the state is war mongering, the whole country catches up with him.

But say he is patient and forgiving, towards an irritating neighbor then even if he faces flak initially, he will commended for extending peace by other neighbor countries and international community.

They can offer services and expertise to the people of that irritating country. Their own people will condemn the acts

 The Leader and opposition leader if they practice love thy neighbor, there would be constructive criticism and work leading to the welfare of the people.

 On the other hand if the hatred between the leader and opposition leader goes beyond a threshold, the one who is in power will try to destroy the works of other thereby leading to the loss of public money and time.

 What we commonly see between ruling and opposition parties in democracies today where too much of contempt leading to too much of hatred. When people in ruling party abuse power and oppress the opposition, later when they come to power, they try to pay double into the former’s lap. Who are supposed to think of people’ welfare will be involved in plotting, losing their focus and public will be affected

 Where love thy neighbor comes up, selfishness gets wiped out and forgiveness is at its peak.

When you come to power and if you are partial toward your community during your tenure, When the opponent gets a chance, not only you but your community will get affected. Hence love thy neighbor gives a guideline to put others and other communities on par with you and your community.

The decisions taken by the people in power will be in welfare of majority and also not causing concerning among minority. Love thy neighbor puts a leader in the a citizen’s shoes

 If other party comes into power, they will not destroy the previous regime’s work but try to build on that. Irrespective of party lines and ideologies, they will continue the work that benefits the people.

 Even when important decisions are to be taken, Love thy neighbor makes the leader to consult with all the important stakeholders thereby getting the buy-in and minimizing the conflict associated with welfare programs.

 It helps a leader to maintain continuous contact with the people and bring about the changes they think would be the best for them.

In a democracy where multiple parties form stakeholders, coming to a consensus on policy matters sometimes could be time consuming and can hamper the progress of people’s initiatives. Hence some countries have adopted to follow the autocratic model.

 Here what the leader says, the rest are bound to oblige. In cases where, one person wants to impose on others what he says, there can always be obedience in letter. But say if the leader is interested in greater good of the people, though initially people may be upset or may feel they are getting over-ridden, over time they’ll realize the benefit.

  When a compassionate people’s leader comes, there seems to be joy and warmth in the air. When a ruler who is known to deal tough with opposition comes, even the air seems to be cold and hostile

 Model-1   Democracy where every person follows the ethic

If everyone follows “Love they neighbor”, democracy would be the right model as no one hinders activity that would help people. Also, it allows lot of discussion to flow and there is freedom too. But say that people leaders are selfish, than exploring other models will help.

 

Model-2   Autocratic setup where the leader follows the ethic

An autocratic leader who follows “Love they neighbor” could be the next best solution. But if he is biased in certain aspects, then we go to the next preference

 

Model-3  Democratic setup where every atleast some follows the ethic

 Atleast some follow. So others could be influenced. There could be lag in people’s policy making and some corruption could also creep in. Overtime, if it changes into Model-1, it is favourable, but if deteriorates, then switching over to model-2 should help.
